Board of Directors
In front of my lens today is a Board of Directors from a local company here in West Michigan. I did get to travel to Florida for this one as they needed updated portraits and getting them all to West Michigan was not happening anytime soon.
I have had the privilege of working with this company for almost 30 years, that's a tough number to say out loud :-) Getting professional portraits of very busy clients with limited time in between meetings is something you have to do in this business. You don't learn this in the first few years of being a professional photographer, it's something that happens over time. Back in the 90's when I was young and learning the ropes I had one of these very people in front of my lens, I was taking my time (it was medium format film after all!) wanting to get it right and show off my abilities, when the client said " hey do you think we are close to being done, I have meeting in 10 minutes." It was at that time I learned this is not about me it's about the client. So knowing my gear (lights, soft boxes, camera, lens and room) is secondary and must come natural after time. My clients next meeting is always on my mind.
